Serah waited for Snow near the ancient ruins. He was out on a mission and he promised her he would be back soon so they can go shopping for Lightning’s present together. Lightning’s birthday was just around the corner and Serah was preparing everything for that day. It was important for her as she missed spending time with her sister. Lightning was always busy with her job as a Soldier so Serah didn’t really see her sister a lot or got a chance to talk to her as much as she used to, but she convinced her to take the day off so they can spend some time together.
Another reason why that day was important to her was because she was planning on introducing Snow to her sister and telling her that their relationship was serious. Lightning already met Snow and Lightning behaved just as Serah anticipated and was completely against their relationship.
Snow was exactly the opposite of Lightning so she expected her to disapprove. But on that day she wanted to show her sister just why she was in love with Snow. She wanted her sister to accept him and that was why she was working so hard and it wasn’t only her but Snow as well. To Serah Snow and Lightning were the most important people in her life... she looked up to both of them and felt a lot safer knowing that they were both in her life.

Finally her shift was over and it was time to return back home. Lightning sighed as she stretched her hands it has been a long day but there was still something she should do before heading back. It was just extra work for another day but Lightning decided it was best seeing as she would be by then. The festival that was just in a few days and Lightning had the shift at night again. She decided to take a quick glance around the place just to decide where to assign her soldiers. They would patrol the shopping mall at night just to make sure nothing out of the ordinary happens.
Picking up her phone she saw a call from Sera. Her sister was probably waiting for her back home at least that was what Lightning thought. “Sorry Serah guess I will miss dinner again” with that she closed her phone and headed to the mall. Lightning was going to take the day off in just a weak for her birthday. She disliked that but did it for her sister. ‘One day was okay she thought’

There was a rumour however that the fal’Cie of Pulse who were enemies to Cocoon were the ones who built them but why would they? ‘No there must be something else another reason’ she thought and so kept searching for clues anything that might help her answer those questions she longed to know.
As she examined the surface structure Serah found something that was not there before, an entrance to the ruins. She was sure that was not there before as she used to come here and examine this place ever since she was a kid she knew every detail about the place and an entrance never existed before.

“Mom can I have one of those?”
“Hm” Lihtning turned around to see a young boy with his mother. They were in the pet shop looking at different animals.
“Baby Chocobos are fun to have as pets and they don’t take up much room their ideal pets if you ask me” The shop keeper replied holding one small chocobo in his hand..
“I don’t know we are on a vacation and I don’t think it’s fair to take this little guy away from its home”
She heard the mother reply and then her thoughts formed ‘a vacation that’s exactly what we need’ Lightning smiled it’s been a while since she spend some time with her sister Serah.. She has been too busy with work but that wasn’t an excuse. A vacation would be great for both of them and it was Lightning’s perfect chance to get her sister to stop thinking about Snow.
“Think I can get a week or two off work.” She muttered thinking to herself as she looked around. She was planning on surprising Serah with this on her birthday. With that she turned around and wanted to thank the boy and his mother but they were no longer there.
She spotted them walking down the streets holding hands and she smiled. Just thinking about her sister always helped Lightning feel better. This was her chance to make it up to Serah for not being around when she needed to talk.

Serah walked closer to the entrance. Even though she knew it was dangerous and there were laws against being close to these ruins. Serah couldn’t help it. Her curiosity got the best of her. This was her chance to solve the mystery behind those ruins and without a moment of hesitation she walked in.
The structure and the details of that place were fascinating. Serah already got one of her answers this place couldn’t possibly have been built by any human. The lights from the crystals hung on the cycling gathered as they guided her deeper into the ruins and soon she was bathed by pure white light then everything went black.
"l’Cie…"
"Why did you choose someone from Cocoon?"

"But where should we go?" Lightning though walking around aimlessly around the shopping mall. She was now less focused about the festival and more about Serah. Lightning couldn't wait to surprise her with the news. Just to see that smile on her sisters face would put her heart at ease.
To Lightning Serah was not only a sister... from the moment her parents died Lightning became her guardian. She even gave up her name for that reason. To protect Serah that was why she was there. Another thing good about this idea was to find a way to get Serah away from Snow. Someone Lightning disliked very much and thought that her sister was too good for him.

She heard faint whispers but as she came to Serah was nowhere near the ruins. In fact she was lying on her back outside. Could it just have been a dream she wondered glancing back at the ruins. “No it felt so real it can’t be…” but she passed out inside so how did she get out here unless someone carried her out but who?
Serah rubbed her head as she tried to sit up. Thankfully she wasn’t hurt or injured in any way. She was just tired for some reason but other than that she felt alright. She then turned and noticed a mark on her hand. A drawing of something she thought she saw before in one of the l’Cie books.
“It’s just a joke” She said rubbing her hand but the mark didn’t come off. “This is just a cruel joke…” She repeated rubbing harder but the mark remained unchanged. “This can’t be the real thing it just can’t” she said feeling a bit worried as she looked at her hand. She rubbed harder and harder till it hurt but the mark was still there. It seemed like it was engraved on her hand… something she could not erase.

Snow
Snow paused in the heat of the action. He held a huge gun, shots blazed around him. He had heard a scream, yet this one was familiar to him. He turned around, the first thing he saw was Maqui, struggling with many of the iquie. Grunting, he took off for the young man from Team Nora. He ran, blocking out all of the sounds of everything going on around him.
"get offa me!!" He heard him screech, and kept running. He was suddenly there, in action. Fighting for his young friend, he didn't even have to think about where his fists went. He just was fighting. He looked up, his blue eyes flashing when he saw what was coming across the bridge. "Damn..." He whispered to himself. How were they ever going to survive this one? He thought of Serah. He had promised to go with her to shop for a gift for Lightning with her after his mission. Now...would he ever get back to her?
Suddenly he heard Gadot shout. turning, he heard what he was saying. "Get out of the way!" He heard it in slow motion. Turning, he grabbed Maqui, he started running. Getting away, he felt a thundering blow behind him. He was thrown forward, slamming into the ground. Shaking his head, he hopped to his feet, before coughing. Wiping his forehead, he noticed that Gadot had blown up the bridge. Shrugging, he walked toward Gadot, Maqui in tow.
He rotated his shoulders, getting the kinks out of his muscles. He looked back again, "Hey guys, I think we should get outta here!" smiling a little bit, he slapped him on the shoulder. "I have to go see Serah!" Turning, he ran away. He was going to the ruins. He had agreed to meet her there. He got onto his bike and roared away.
Getting there swiftly, he glanced around. Something didn't feel right...it felt all wrong. "Serah...?" He asked quietly. He could feel something was not right with her. He couldn't see her. Starting to walk, he looked around. Starting to jog, he went faster. Winding his way around the outside of the ruins. He suddenly saw her, standing, rubbing at her hand. The look in her eyes scared him to no end. She looked terrified for some reason. His breath was ragged, his eyes worried.
Running up to her, he shouted to her. "Serah!" He yelled as he went toward her. He didn't know what was going wrong, but he didn't want her hurting at all. He loved her, so much. He was going to ask her to marry him, he even had the ring picked out. Right now that didn't matter though, all that mattered was that Serah was worried, and it was something serious!

After talking with the traveling agency Lightning was able to pick out the best place for a vacation. Now was the time to tell her sister of the good news. Lightning's birthday was in two days and that was when she decided to leave the first thing in the morning.
A vacation for just the two of them and she would make it up for her sister for not being around due to her work. That wasn't an excuse though Lightning should have found more time to spend with her sister and now she was going to do just that. Even after they return she would be busy, but she would find the time for her sister. That was a promise she made to herself. 'No matter how busy she was she would always find time for Serah'
Glancing down at her watch she smile. Knowing Serah she would be back home at this time, unless she had something important to do. Turning back to walk in the direction of their home. This was the best time to talk about the vacation. They never took one after their parents died. Lightning always found the excuse with work... She was sure her sister would be thrilled that they were finally going on one.
Work can wait she decided. Actually, Lightning was already done and all that was left was the same old routine which she could do on the night of the festival. She turned around and walked back in the direction of their home.
"Serah I am back..." But no reply came. She wasn't there. "Serah..." Lightning searched the apartment but she was no where to be found. She pulled out her phone and called her. No answer... Something was definitely up but what could she possibly be? This wasn't like her at all even if she was out with Snow Serah always answered Lightning's calls.
"I have to find her, the only place she goes to..." the old Cocoon ruins. The best place to start her search and where she was sure to find Serah.

"What is this?" But then she remembered the voices she heard.
'l’Cie…'
'Why did you choose one from Cocoon?'
What did that mean she was a l’Cie… but that made her an enemy to Cocoon now, to the world… ."NO it can’t be it can’t be real"She said as tears started to fall down her eyes. All she could do was lift her knees up to her chin and sob.
Serah tried to find a reason anything to explain this, anything to calm her down. "It’s a joke it’s just a cruel joke it can’t be real… this is just a mistake" But every time she looked at her hand she lost hope.
"Snow..... Lightning help me… I am scared" She cried out as she looked at her mark she knew that she couldn’t stay there any longer. The truth finally sank in She was a l’Cie, an enemy to the world she couldn’t go back home or let anyone find her including Lightning or Snow and so she gathered her strength and got up and ran away. To escape before anyone finds her but just when she goot to her feet she heard his voice.
"Snow....." She gasped in surprise and hid her mark with her hand. "What are you doing here....?" She asked forgetting about he fact they were going shopping together for Lightning's birthday. All she thought about was running but where to.... where could she possibly go?

Snow
Snow stopped running, but he continued to walk toward Serah. She gasped his name like she hadn't known he would be there. His eyebrows pulled together in thought as well as him being worried for Serah. He didn't know why she had stood back, almost seemed like she wanted to get away from him. He walked close, before pulling her close and hugging her. "Serah..."
He had been able to see streaks down her cheeks...she had been crying! His jaw hardened, whoever it was that had made her cry, they should be worried. He wondered why she had forgotten about them shopping for Lightning. "Honey, we were going shopping for Lightning remember?"
Something was terribly wrong! Serah was a happy woman, upbeat, loving life, everyone around her. He hated to see her sad, and this, this made him want to just hold her close until she was better again. He didn't mean to pry, he knew that she must be going through something terrible though! "Serah....whats the matter? Did someone hurt you?" On the way to the ruins, he had seen a beautiful apple tree. Glancing around the inside of the ruins they were in, he picked her up. Walking out of the ruins, he carried her underneath that same apple tree, before sitting down and looking deeply into her eyes. His own blue eyes showed how much he loved her, and wanted to to be happy again.

(Will give You two some time to talk till Lightning gets there ) Her phone rang, Lightning instantly picked it up but was only disappointed when she heard her superior officer Sergeant Major Amoda's voice. "Sergeant Major now is not the time... I have got other important business to attend to." Though he refused adding that this matter was of great importance and needed her assistance now. Everything else always had to wait her job had to come first and always. She sighed shaking her head. If Serah was in any danger ever, Lightning would always leave her job and everything else to be by her sisters side. She would turn against this word and everyone in it if she had to just to protect Serah. She was her guardian after all and it was her job to keep her sister out of harm. Another thing was she couldn't trust anyone else with that responsibility, even Snow who has been dating Serah. He might say he will protect her now but if he faced danger would he really stand by her side or would he just end up hurt Serah by running away? She couldn't trust Snow or anyone with that job. It was her own and she would gladly do everything and anything just for her sister. "I don't think I can come Sergeant I need to find my sister."
But was Serah in any kind of Danger? Just because she wasn't home or hasn't answer her phone like she used to didn't mean she was in danger. Though it did bother her and Lightning was still determent to find Serah just to be sure that she was alright. As usual her superior wouldn't take no for an answer and kept persisting her to go with details of how crucial this mission was. "Alright... were is the location I will dispose of those monsters quickly before searching for Serah." She assured him grabbing her sword as she returned it to its hostler and left the room. She hurried to the main streets where a group of monsters from Pulse seem to have landed. 'Dispose of them all quickly before they harm anyone or destroy the place.' That was her mission and as always she worked alone. It was always faster and easier that way, she never had to worry about others only concentrate on her mission.

( ) "Lightning's birthday....." Serah just remembered they agreed to meet there so they can go shopping a present for her sister's birthday together, but she couldn't do that now. She couldn't be around any humans. All her thoughts were of running away but she knew no matter how far she ran things won't change and she would still be a I'Cie. "Snow...." She looked down holding her tears that wanted to burst out. Her life everything was over the moment she entered those ruins. She no longer had a future that was the fate of the I'Cie. She glanced away avoiding eye contact as her hand remained on her arm hiding her mark she couldn't let anyone see it. She was too scared of the reaction she might get. "No... no one hurt me....." Looking away,Serah could no longer laugh or smile as she used to before. All she felt was fear and sadness she wanted to cry but no one to see her what should she do?

Snow
Snow looked into Serah's eyes as she looked down. Her eyes seemed to be glancing at her hand. She had tears brimming in her eyes, her breath came a little fast, she was scared of something. She spoke his name slowly, hesitantly. He couldn't think of hat might be wrong, but it wasn't anything good.
He brushed his hand on her cheek, then he stroked her back. He saw that her hand was clamped over her arm. He put one of his hands on her own hand, then sighed heavily. "If no one hurt you...Serah...whats the matter? Whats making you so sad?" He spoke in earnest, wanting her to know that he cared for her.
He wanted her pain to become his. He wanted her to smile, to laugh. He wanted to see the twinkle of her beautiful blue eyes. He saw her hesitation. Something was causing her pain, and he needed to know what it was so that he could help her. She had forgotten about the going shopping? she had been looking foreword to it for weeks now!
"Honey...tell me whats the matter! Please, If I can help, I want to do that!" His eyes searched her own eyes. She was his entire world, and he wanted to be there for her now. His hand was still on her own, covering it completely. His fingers curled around hers, warm, gentle.

A few monsters stood there out in the middle of the street, and just like every other monster from Pulse all they did was cause damage to Cocoon. That was why they were always eliminated without a seconds thought.
All the people stied clear of them all to afraid to come out. This would of course make it easier for Lightning. While fighting she didn't have to worry about anyone getting hurt if they all stay out of her way. This would also help her finish her mission alot faster. She pulled out her Blaze Edge stepping between the group of monster as she grasped her weapon in her hands.
Lightning only pointed it at the group of monsters as they gathered around her, and she tried to decide which one to take out first. Three weren't a problem for her and these monsters were labeled as the weakest in Pulse. Taking them out alone shouldn't be a problem. After all she always worked alone.
She jumped into the air slashing her sword at the creatures and stabbed a few of them till they could no longer move. She slashed and cut through their vital organs and watched them all fall down to the floor.
Her mission was done as the citizens applauded for her victory. All Lighting did was return her sword to its hostler before turning to walk away ignoring the crowd that formed around the place. She didn't have time for anything and simply dismissed them as she made her way down the streets heading in the direction of the old ruins. Now she had to find Serah.
