A portal of darkness opened, and slowly Sykes walked out. He was still trying to get this whole dark door thing down, it seemed so random. He just opened it, and ended up somewhere. Oh well this time it seems like he ended up in a dense jungle. Oh joy. You just have to love the humidity, the bugs, the damn over grown vines, oh and we cant forget about the vicious animals. After several hours of tramping through the wilderness, and getting no where, Sykes began running. Sykes unsheathed his katana, and began slicing at the foliage. After almost 30 min of this he still ended up no where. Sykes was starting to get pissed off. He was tired of this, This stupid jungle, the stupid bugs, the fact that there was nothing here, but these same stupid Trees. Sykes began to yell and scream "AHH!!!" As he started cleaving into one of the trees with his katana. After 4 slices the blade got jammed in the tree, and he began punching it over and over till his knuckles began to bleed. He finally calmed down. Then as he jerked the katana out of the tree, he took a deep breath, and sheathed his blade, but it seemed like his calm wouldn't last long, as he heard a loud rustling in the foliage behind him.

The loud ruffle and scraping of branches came quickly as sharp leaves of the tropic trees brushed against skin. There was a brutal shove and a half wounded soldier, armor still on with blood trickling and an obvious rank insignia on his shoulder, was forcibly thrown onto the ground behind a black coated figure. Noctis and this half dead man openly had their conflict displayed, while both were conscious there was someone else in front of them.
The red eyes looked up as they moved to the stranger in the forest, and then sharply returned to the blood splurting and protesting character on the ground. There was obviously a necessity to gain some piece of information or out come from the torture Noctis was giving this man, dragging him all over the place and finally here where it just got tidious; it would be over now as Noctis stabbed through him with his falchion blade. This enemy was gone, nameless and forgotten in the history of this attack.
His attention returned to the stranger, as he skimmed him from the corner of his eyes. They shone and wind brushed his sleeves, distorting him then replacing him fully facing the katana wielding man, many metres closer than he had been before. There wasn't anything he could think of saying, as he was still in the mode of fighting and awaited a grey brown transparency to return to his eyes. The little bit of blood he was begrudged to have, splattered on the bottom of his zipped coat, dripped and stained the ground as his right hand lifted and released his weapon, vanishing it in a sparkling blaze.

Sykes soon realized that the rusting of the leaves was caused by two men fighting. Well it wasn't really much of a fight so much as a massacre. As the man showed severe brutality in his slaying of the other man, Sykes bit his lip. Many questions ran through his racing mind "Who is he? What does he want? Friend? Enemy? Blade right hand... Is he going to attack? Reaction? How fast can i remove my blade from its sheathe? Mud, whats my traction? What are my options here?" Several of these questions were answered, but so many more needed to be ask as the man dropped his weapon, and it faded into a sparkling mass of light. Sykes rubbed his finger tips together in anticipation as he looked at the man, and said in a playfully tone "Dont guess you wanna explain what that was all about, huh?"

Really, Noctis was amused by this man's question; it was just so direct and open, he could almost say anything and it'd just be as baffling as the proper answer, but his emotions didn't come out right.
He paused, observing the other without a purpose, he had no reason to fight this man and that was why he had discarded the weapon. Truth be told, Noctis preferred the other to initiate conversation as he was one of few words until he befriended the stranger, in general. "There are those who want to take something from me. And their efforts bring me to this kind of circumstance..." and it happens all the time. Have I said too much and the questions he would have in his mind...if he knew about the Crystals... Self consciousness ran through his head, but he didn't continue and instead thought to skip the story with caution first.
Maybe they would return to it when he could trust this person, and vice versa. "Who are you?" If he had been a second later to ask this, the other would have asked, and then he could only say "That'd be my line." It was rather quizzical to see but they were only surrounded by bushes and wildlife; no judging was needed.
ooc- forgot..bold = speech (: i write confusingly.

OOC: nah, i understood it, its a little less confusing than most's
Sykes was satisfied with the man's answer, it didnt appear that he had any intentions of attempting an attack. So there really was no reason to ask anything else about the man who lay dead on the ground. Then came a question "who are you?" Sykes pondered a moment, then responded with an expression that faked an interest in the man's question, before he answered "Just call me Sykes" Then he made a slightly quizzical expression, as he lifted his right hand, and said "and you are?"
Unfortunately, the man wouldn't have the time to answer Sykes question, as another rustling began to sound in the foliage. There was a loud growl as a large spotted cat lunged at the man. It must have smelt the blood from the carnage of the 'fight' if it could be considered a fight. Sykes reacted without thought, it was instinct. Sykes had no real intention of protecting this complete stranger, he really had no reason to even care if the beast killed him. Honestly Sykes was kinda bored, and losing the only entertainment he had found in almost 3 hours wasn't an option. Sykes moved with incredible speed using his shadow step, it was near teleportation, only those with high levels of training can see his movements, as he raised his sheathed blade level with the jungle cat's mouth, stopping it mid lunge. His feet slid back on the ground, as he haulted the momentum of the beast. As it came down, the beast lunged again, swinging its claws wildly in an attempt to tear Sykes limb from limb. Sykes barely managed to shift his weight enough to dodge each of its strikes, as he moved back to gain his ground. Sykes had no idea what the other man's reaction to this would be "Hmm should I attack? or is he going to attempt to attack? I don't know if he's gonna be in the way."

The very letters of Sykes' name imprinted themselves in Noctis' thoughts. Now there was a much deeper connection between the stranger and himself as he wasn't just another nameless. He saw this man had a variety of responses as he changed tone and expressions much more frequently than Noctis knew how to.
Then the mind-boggling thing happened and the stranger was asking him a question with an outstretched hand, the prince almost shrunk inside; his own right hand moved midway with indecision then finally reached to shake the other's. The wonders of how it would seem popping up like voices of the angel and devil on his shoulder. "...Noctis Lucis Caelum..." The introduction came like he was addressing some formal thing, then adding to it, he was pleased he'd broken his distancing habit a little. "Just Nocte...is fine." It'd probably work better with a gesture more amicable, like a smile though..
They were cut short as a giant feline predator leaped from the foliage with rage and hunger, Noctis thought it was his fault, or rather the fact he'd left a fresh meal somewhere near by and contemplated nearly smacking the cat many metres away with his telekinesis. Atleast then it'd be where it's food was... He supposed animals were somewhat pardonable for their actions, even if they posed to be threatening because they acted upon instinct and less on corruption. However, he chose to watch how the stranger was dealing with the unwanted visitor first, it would summarise a lot about him to Noctis and the prince was curious.
Whatever the outcome of this...isn't a problem... He was simply not bothered; the man was free to kill the beast if he so wished but Noctis was more interested in how he would behave knowing that they weren't a team. He had never fought with others, but only for others and himself so he gave Sykes a little less wondering to do. "Attack if you like. I won't stand in your way."
Part of the reason why Noctis allowed Sykes to move first was because he understood men had great pride, and any man even met in the deep Jungle who wielded a weapon ...and showed obvious skill with fighting needed no further questioning about doing the honours of battle. He had stood back after all, watching the dodges and speaking to Sykes above the growls of the cat, ready if it did come his way.

An almost calming aura came over Sykes as the man said "Attack if you like. I won't stand in your way." The thoughts ran through his mind like wildfire "How could i start the torture? Slice off each of it's legs one at a time? hmm perhaps i should just physically beat the thing to death? or maybe i should just finish it quickly... I do have an audience." Sykes smiled, as he playfully spoke "So you just wanna sit back and enjoy the show?" Then with one swift fluid like motion, Sykes stepped towards the beast, unsheathed his blade, spun putting his momentum plus weight into his strike, and cleaved into the feline at the base of its neck. Blood splattered across the ground, as the body of the cat fell in one place, and its head rolled a few feet away. Blood slowly began pooling, and seeping into the soil around the body. Sykes smiled slightly sadistically, as he took in his kill. He had killed countless enemies, but no matter how many he killed, he still seems to feel the same sadistic pleasure from it. "Stupid filthy animal, you were unfit to live. You should have fled when you had the chance. Oh well its just too bad i had an audience, i would have made your death far more painful if i could have" Sykes then shook the blood off of his blade, sheathed it, and turned to face the man. Then in a slightly angered tone Sykes said "Hmm, so do you have any idea where we can get away from these God forsaken bugs? Theyre really starting to piss me off." as he swatted at the gnats flying around him.

This small curl crept along Noctis' lips, he was relatively comfortable with sitting back and enjoying the show after having been through his own little bloody escapade around the world in twenty minutes. The 'I can't smile' thing was alright here, he just nodded twice and stepped back to give Sykes the impression of more space. The spike of a leaf jabbed him and he ran his finger along the edge then snapped it without thinking and let his senses fill with the smell of more blood.
There was alot of graphic detail in the expertly choreographed slaying, Noctis could see form the carcass that lay beheaded and glanced at the katana blade that was being sheathed. He suddenly was a little more serious as he took in what Sykes was saying, while simultaneously beginning to hear the hum and buz of an insect somewhere near his face. Remaining motionless for the second, Noctis answered.
"Realistically, you can come with me...as you have seen, but are your intentions to leave this jungle for good or just this current place? I have overlooked the reason why you're here...so, why are you here?" They could begin travel when he understood exactly what Sykes was hoping for.

Sykes smiled, as he made an expression to show that he was contemplating an answer to the man's question. Then in a slightly sarcastic tone he said "I don't really posses any reason to be in this jungle besides the fact that i was so unlucky as to end up here" Sykes knew his answer should satisfy the question, while leaving more unanswered than it answered. Sykes enjoyed the slight mind game. He assumed that by answering in this way it would lead to more conversation, and Sykes was incredibly bored. He just wanted some way to pass his time, and this man seemed to be a slight distraction from this torture chamber called a jungle.

Noctis' eyebrows creased slightly, his thoughts taking control of his face as he considered what Sykes was saying. He was playing at something, most likely in mimicry of Noctis' own dysfunctional conversation skills but it provoked nothing negative; it reminded him of his friends whom he hadn't seen in awhile.
"I'd ask why you ended up here then but it must've been unpleasant as you call yourself unlucky." Other than this man talking to him, Noctis wouldn't stay in the jungle, but it seemed like a great escape all of a sudden as he began to feel the nature surrounding him to be beautiful. He lived in such a man-made world, yet he had never appreciated mother earth for giving him a land to forget a city from as he sat on the throne daily, wasting away youth.
"Perhaps we should leave this clearing, there will be more to kill as the scent of blood lingers and more creatures come. The gnats seem to like you anyway." and the flies will like the blood on me. So saying this, Noctis walked around the pooling red sea and almost scowled at a flying bug that went zooming past his eye too. "Have you come here before?" He wondered out loud, in case Sykes would be able to feed him with information of beings inhabiting this jungle or of humans who made their presence known here.

"Perhaps we should leave this clearing, there will be more to kill as the scent of blood lingers and more creatures come. The gnats seem to like you anyway." Sykes made a 'youre just oh so funny' expression at the man's gnat comment. Then as Noctis began walking, Sykes started to follow, or walk beside the man, allowing for him to lead the way. "Have you come here before?" Sykes made an are you crazy expression, as he said in a playfully sarcastic tone "If i had i sure as hell wouldnt have come back" In the back of his mind Sykes thought "Why am I following this man? What reasons do I have? For all I know he's intent on TRYING to kill me like he did the other man. Hmm or maybe im just paranoid. Besides if he wanted me dead he would have just tried to kill me back there... And besides, this Jungle's just so damn boring so thats all the reason in the world to follow him"

"Sykes...I'd class your distaste for this place as your greatest hate, almost." Noctis grinned inside, and was glad that even a trace of this couldn't be seen and walked on ahead, pushing the branches that jutted out at him away and snapping twigs beneath his boots. "Not even come back if you had no where else to go?" It was like Noctis twisted things he said just to pass time but honestly, he was a very practical person and had Sykes stated 'i want to leave right now', he would've teleported him to his home and no exploration would happen.
There was a silence that Noctis guessed was what was needed for Sykes to analyse him, and make a decision about who he was or something similar. As he was bad at communicating his 'befriending' of another, he simply stated. "I have no intention of fighting you or engaging in conflict for that matter. You're not after what I live for."
To anyone else, who didn't think about distrusting him, it would probably seem strange but Noctis could care less; he was going to say something in an even more badly phrased way. "Do you serve for any...one or purpose?"

"I have no intention of fighting you or engaging in conflict for that matter. You're not after what I live for." Sykes was slightly taken by shock at how intuitive Noctis seemed to be. Sykes managed to keep this to himself, as he made a forced blank expression "Do you serve for any...one or purpose?" Now this question, Sykes could play with for a few moments. As the words flowed from the Noctis's mouth numerous answers flooded into his mind "I served as a mercinary. I served as an assassin for a crime syndicate. I was a general of the whole organization. I serve my own sadistic pleasures. I just dont know what he wants to hear" Sykes bit the inside of his bottom lip, as he responded to Noctis's question with a slightly playful tone in his voice. "I stopped serving others a long time ago.... and as for purposes, I dont guess i really serve for any purpose either. Other than that of simply living"

Noctis, in spite of his vast knowledge in philosophies, which he'd bothered to study in the hopes of finding himself and knowing his own purpose ...did a double take mentally; his brain in a flop. He doesn't guess he serves for a purpose but he had before, so then simply living wouldn't have been his purpose when he had served... This made relative sense to him but it didn't tell him very much about Sykes or the actual service that he had asked to know of.
The playful tone re established itself in Sykes' voice and Noctis stopped in his tracks to close the way between them, as they were heading out of the denser areas of the jungle. He did turn back this time, so the other could see the side profile of his face, shrouded by his hair, as he could only do this now that he wasn't walking for a moment. "There must have been a purpose to serve others but living is your objective I take it. You are free of servitude as you are living, while my objectives are different and I serve them in life until death; It is a problem."
Things like this were often described as a problem by Noctis, such as power and authority yet he was hypocritically in such authority over some. He got a bit too complicated at times, and shook his head to face ahead again then questioned the man, in pursuit of insight in what 'life' other than his own had to offer."Do you enjoy your life's freedom?"

"There must have been a purpose to serve others but living is your objective I take it. You are free of servitude as you are living, while my objectives are different and I serve them in life until death; It is a problem." Sykes thought to himself as these words flowed freely from Noctis' mouth "Objective? Hmm what is his objective? he has me just a slight bit curious as to what he is, who he really is. I'm sure i could have fun toying with this man's 'objectives'. He seems like he's at battle with his own cravings for freedom." Then came yet another question from his mouth "Do you enjoy your life's freedom?" Sykes made a slightly quizzical expression as he spoke with an aura of wisdom about his voice. The tone was that of a calm stoic, but with that still slighty playful at the same time "Hmm although most would seek freedom to live life as they please... It can become rather tiresome after a while. Because in the end along with this 'freedom' comes the resposibilities of dealing with your own actions. Where as with servitude whether it be to a person, or to your own little 'goals', you can justify your actions through it. There by removing blame from one's own concience, and placing it on the fact that you are serving" Sykes was pleased with his answer, he was proud of his silk tongue, his ability to weave words into a web of a game. While he answered the question, his answer only seemed to pose more questions.
