Hollow Bastion didn't look as hollow anymore. Not that Roxas fully remembered it back from Sora's first few visits, but the Leon gang had definitely fleshed it out. The castle was the only thing that still looked like it was suffering, as no one seemed to bother restoring any part of it that wasn't necessary, but maybe that was for the best. Resources were resources, and Roxas knew very well that dead weight got left behind.
At any rate, his search thus far hadn't been for anything in particular and he didn't expect that to change. But that didn't mean it wasn't interesting, in a way, to look at things from outside Sora again--understand the world from a perspective that wasn't Sora's, do what he liked without having to nag and nag and nag at his other's subconscious, and just be whether he had the right or not.
So he crossed to the railing that separated him from a fall to what looked like his doom, looking out at the castle...
...and got the eerie feeling that somewhere that wasn't here, sometime that wasn't now, Sora had just done the same thing.
For a moment he just breathed in sync with himself, feeling for the phantom heartbeat that he knew was there, he knew it, he knew it was...
"Sora..."
Gone.
Roxas slammed his fists into the railing, ignoring the shocking pain of the cold, hard stone as he spun away from it. "Why do you never listen to me?!" he demanded of no one and nothing, hearing his voice come out weak and useless. It felt barely capable of pushing the air away from his mouth, let alone reaching the other that was so far away.
