Roxas
“Looks like my summer vacation is over.”
Age: Fifteen
Family: Sora—his other half, so to speak.
Race: Nobody
Side: Light
Job: Number XIII of the now defunct Organization XIII
Items: Elixir
Accessories: None.
Personality: Unlike his happy-go-lucky counterpart, Roxas is much more serious and quiet. In fact, he usually only talks outright is with his friends, otherwise he is more likely to just stand and watch the rest of the people. Despite being a quiet person, Roxas is known to be outspoken if the situation calls for it in his sense. For example, if someone is bad mouthing him or his friends, he is much more likely to retaliate and say a few thoughts of his own. Also unlike Sora, he is much more angst and prone to get angry. This is evidenced when DiZ confronted him digitally in front of Sora’s pod. However, this does not mean that he is also prone to letting his anger get the best of him. For the most part, he can control it and keep calm, but every so often he does tend to let loose and take out his anger on something.
While with his friends, on the other hand, Roxas can be just as normal as any other teenager. He will laugh, goof off, and be just as lazy as you want him to be. He is also much more sensitive with key friends such as Xion, Naminé and Axel. As these are the only friends he truly believes he can trust, he tends to bottle everything up from the others, leaving him a mystery that is hard to be read.
History: As a Nobody, Roxas’ life began when Sora freed Kairi’s heart from within his own with Riku’s Dark Keyblade. After his pseudo-birth, he awoke in Twilight Town a nameless Nobody where he was found by Xemnas who then gave him the name of “Roxas.” Xemnas then took the young Nobody into Organization XIII where he was given the rank of Number XIII and was tasked with collecting hearts for the Order’s ultimate goal: becoming whole. It was here that he met his friend Axel, fellow Nobody and member of the Organization. Axel took Roxas under his wing and taught him the basics of how things worked in the Organization and had an ice cream with him on the Twilight Town clock tower after every mission if they could.
However, once the new base of Castle Oblivion was established, six members of the Organization were sent there, including Axel. During his absence, Roxas got to know Number XIV, Xion. After a few days of silence, they began to grow closer as friends to the point where Roxas would take her to the clock tower for ice cream in Axel’s absence.
After Axel returned, they would hang out together on the clock tower after missions and celebrate their friendship. However, it did not remain this way. Soon, Xion wanted to leave the Organization and Roxas tried his hardest to make her stay, but he couldn’t. He followed her, all the way to the point where she faded away in his arms. At this point, everything began to fall apart for him. He became colder, and began to question just why he had the Keyblade. Despite Axel’s attempts, Roxas soon followed in Xion’s footsteps and defected from the Organization and went on his own path. On this path, he encountered Riku twice. During the first encounter, Roxas easily defeated the silver-haired teen. On the second time around, though, he was not so lucky. He fell into the hands of DiZ who imprisoned him inside a virtual Twilight Town to hide him from his pursuers.
In this digital world, he lived out his days as if he were just an ordinary teenager with the friendship of Hayner, Pence and Olette. Despite DiZ’s attempts, both Axel and Naminé managed to get into the data and talk to Roxas. Roxas, who was suffering a sort of amnesia, did not remember Axel and fought him, defeating him. He chose to talk to Naminé who revealed to him the truth, up until DiZ interfered and silenced her. He decided to merge back with Sora and headed to the basement of the mansion. It was here that he fought Axel once more, who was now forced to destroy Roxas. However, this was not so as Roxas once again defeated him, and moved on to merge with Sora.
Much later on in The World That Never Was, Roxas challenged Sora to a fight to see why for himself. For the majority of the fight, the Nobody had the upper hand and was overpowering his counterpart. After getting back his keyblade, Sora defeated Roxas. This finally answered the question that plagued him, and he once again merged with Sora.
Roxas made his presence known one last time before the final fight with Xemnas when he was reunited with Naminé. After conversing with her and Sora and Kairi, he merged with Sora one last time, finally deciding it was time to stay put.
