She shook heard, frantically. She didn’t mean to make him feel bad, either. She was just trying to calm herself down, and that was usually how she did it. She sighed and gave him a sorry look. “It’s not that. I guess…I guess I need to calm down in the same way you need to cheer up!” She grinned, softly, before continuing. “We need to mellow each other out, right now. And, I don’t believe that, either. I just think you’ve been away from your friend’s too long.”
“Of course they went home to be with their friends.” Xion commented softly, although she couldn’t help but notice the bitter tone in her voice. She just didn’t think it was fair, was all. Riku, Kairi, and Sora got to live relatively normal lives with fighting stray Heartless here and there, but it wasn’t fair that Axel, Roxas, Naminé, and herself didn’t get to. They were condemned to forever be the outcasts. In a way, Roxas and Naminé were luckier than Axel and herself. They, although it didn’t seem like Roxas was too willing to, at least got to go back into their original, and remember, everything that had happened to them. She wasn’t too sure what had happened to Axel. He had faded completely, hadn’t he? What happened to a Nobody after that? She shook her head, mentally. Things would be a lot simpler if they were normal, like Roxas wished. They wouldn’t have to deal with this, and their biggest problems would be trying to see what to wear for school, and whether or not one had a date for the next school dance. Their lives would revolve mostly around their friend’s and their crushes instead on trying to get a heart.
When Roxas left, she laid back down into the sand and sighed. Speaking of crushes, she was confused, now. Back then, before the name Sora was even familiar to her or to Roxas, she could have easily said that Roxas was, well, her crush, to say the least. After she had met Riku, however, she came to a different conclusion. She felt like Roxas was more of her brother, and she had began to have feelings, she was sure Saix would scoff at her for that if he had ever heard her admit it out loud, for Riku. There was no doubt about it that she had feelings for both of them, but it wasn’t as if she could go out and tell the both of them that. Roxas was already too confused and serious enough as it was without her having to add all this onto it, but she wanted to make sure who she…well, liked.
She couldn’t remember who it was, either. But, for some strange reason, she recalled someone telling her something about never forgetting the first time you fall in love. She knew that was true. If she had, indeed, been in love with Roxas before, that would make him the first guy she had fallen for, and he had changed her life. And, even though she was drawn to Riku at the same time, the feeling for Roxas, she realized, never went away. So, now, she had one choice and one choice alone. If she didn’t make it, then she was being unfair to both of them. Although, to be fair to her, hadn’t she felt like Riku had had a crush on Kairi, and hadn’t Roxas had a thing for Naminé? She wasn’t exactly sure whether or not that was true, but she had figured considering Sora had a thing for Kairi, so wouldn’t his Nobody have a thing for hers? As if that helped, if anything, she was even more confused now.
“What to do?”

During Roxas' trip to Twilight Town, he wondered about his current situation. He was almost certain his feelings for Xion died out. Didn't they? He didn't know, unfortunately, and it was starting to aggrivate him. Of all the human traits he got as a Nobody, why did this have to be one of them? Then again, he guessed this was one more step to normality. This was typical human behavior he knew, just being a normal teenager. Well, as normal as a teenager without a heart can be. Then again, what was normal?
Back to the matters at hand, he wasn't sure. Afte Xion faded, he thought the feelings were gone, and he started to harbor feelings for Namine. After the final fight with Xemnas and a few months back on Destiny Islands, those too died out. He was almost sure those were dead. But with the way his feelings for Xion were acting, he wouldn't be surprised if they slapped him in the face. He barely payed attention to the place infront of him, casually walking to the store that sold ice cream, all the while thinking about her; her laugh, her smile, her face. He shook his head, this wasn't right. They were best friends! The best of best friends! Besties, as she said. Why couldn't there be a simple switch in his head that said "LIKE XION" in one direction and "NOT LIKE XION" in the other. At least that way, it'd be easier. He was so confused, and he hated it.
About five minutes later and no close to a decision, he stepped through another portal holding to sea-salt ice creams, hearing Xion's voice. He stepped forward towards her, she was now laying on the beach. He instinctively held out his hand, offering the ice cream and spoke.
"Here you go, Xion. And what do you mean 'What to do?'"

She had so much to think about, yet so little time to think about it. It would probably one be a matter of minutes before Roxas returned, and she still had no idea what to tell him. It wasn’t as if she was going to tell him that she had, at one point, feelings for him. Unless, of course, it happened to be in a joking manner, and she was sure she could say it in a way that made it sound, even at the least, a bit casual. Anonymous, even. Just to where he couldn’t figure out that it was much more serious than she had led on. And, at the same time, was she sure that she wanted to do that? Especially when she, supposedly, had feelings for Riku, too?
Was it really fair to either of them for her to have to choose? And, either way, she wasn’t sure they liked her, so wouldn’t she just be embarrassing herself if she admitted it? Probably, so those made another question arise. If, indeed she decided to tell them both about how she felt, should she tell him she had feelings for the other? That probably wouldn’t be very smart. Roxas probably didn’t really like Riku, and Riku was probably still feeling guilty about Roxas. But, she was friend’s, for now, with both of them, so didn’t that force them to have to get along, even for her sake? If she figured that she liked Roxas best, she’d want Riku, as her close mentor friend, to be happy for her, and, if she decided that she liked Riku best, she’d want Roxas, as her best friend, to be happy for her, too. But, it wasn’t as if she could force the two of them to like one another. But, she guessed it didn’t matter. It wasn’t as if either boy returned her feelings, right?
She sat upwards, quickly, and her eyes widened for a fraction of a second. However, she managed to get that back to normal soon enough in order to smile at Roxas and take an ice cream from his hand. “Thanks, Roxas.” She said brightly, licking the ice cream before deciding to answer him. “I mean, what should we do? After r all, we have all this free time and we don’t really have much, if anything, to do. We can’t really reflect on what we did in the Organization, can we? All we did there was kill Heartless, sleep, eat, and eat popsicles on top of the Clock Tower.” [/blockquote]

She was right. That was all they did. He sighed a moment, not having the faintest idea as to what they should do. Hell, he didn't even know what to do on his first vacation! He just went to Twilight Town where he was pretty much forced to do a Grandstander act and went to the clock tower to eat ice cream, where he was eventually joined by Axel and Xion.
"I don't know, Xion. It just seemed like a good thing to say, you know?" he thought a moment more, feeling his mind's struggle to decide whether he even liked her or not, and now it was really starting to nag him. Now seemed like a time to hint at it at the slightest, rather than to just let it linger and build up. It wouldn't ruin their friendship or anything, it's just something he needed to get off his chest, "Hey, Xion, have you ever been... I don't know... really confused as to whether or not you like a person? Like, it just really nags at you and bothers you until you just can't take it and just wish it would go away?"
Maybe that wasn't the best way to put it, but at least he said it. It made him feel a bit better and a bit more at ease as he continued to eat his ice cream. That bitter, yet sweet taste. Truly unique and delicious. As he continued to to eat it, he noticed that the popsicle stick had writing on it. He wasn't sure what it said yet, so he kept looking at it as his ice cream diminished. Finally, when it was legible, he read the word "WINNER!". Quite peculiar, for that to show up now.
'Heh, wonder what I won...' Roxas thought to himself.

She grinned at him and laughed. She shook her head and took another bite out of her popsicle. It was yummy. She had almost forgotten the taste. She hadn’t had one of these since…since before their big fight. On the clock tower. Xion bit her lip and gave him a reluctant stare before moving her gaze onto the ice cream. “Hey…Remember the last time we had this? Just…Just the two of us together?” She asked, remembering sadly. It wasn’t a good memory, yet, at the same time, she treasured it because it had just been the two of them.
She sighed in relief, mentally, of course. He had fallen for her lie. She would have been extremely panicky if he had seen through it. If he had, then she would have had no clue what to tell him. That she liked him? That much was easy enough, but he’d be aggravated that she’d like Riku, too, and she didn’t want him to feel angry or anything like that. She wanted Roxas to be as happy as happy could be. She didn’t want him to bee too serious anymore. The Nobody seriously needed to lighten up. Maybe he could take some of her hyperactivity. “Of course I know, Roxie…except not.” She giggled and leaned forward to tap his forehead with her index finger. “It’s not like I know what’s going on in that brain of yours, silly.” She leaned back and took another bite.
When he continued talking, however, she kept quiet and, instead, decided to focus on her ice cream. Roxas was already finished with his, which, made her want to sigh loudly. It always seemed like she was the slower one of the two. In battle, while understanding something, and, apparently, while eating ice cream. When Xion finally understood what he was asking, she had to let it sink in, her eyes widened considerably, but she kept them forward, praying that Roxas wouldn’t look at her. Her face was probably super red by now. So, if he did look at her, her face probably would have given her away. She hadn’t been expecting him to ask her something along those lines, and honestly had to think about what she was going to say.
“Uhofcourseihaveroxas, whatareyou, blind?” She breathed in a rush, hoping he didn’t understand. “I mean, of course. I am, kind of, a teenager, don’t we all go through these things? To tell you the truth, I’m really confused about someone right now.” Her voice dropped several pitches and was now quieter than she would have liked. She still trained her gaze off of him, but she felt her face begin to cook. “But, yeah. I know what you mean. The feeling, it’s like nothing before, right? It won’t go away, and it won’t stop scratching at you, making you want to let it out.” [/color]

She seemed choked up, but he didn't raise his head at first. Instead, listening to her voice. He couldn't tell, but something was bothering her. But then, she dropped a bombshell. She, too, was confused about someone. He wondered who, and raised his head to ask, but was greeted with black hair against tomato red skin. She didn't... Mean him, did she? No, couldn't be. He wasn't sure what to think, but decided to finally speak.
"Yeah, that's pretty much what I mean. But, who are you confused about? It's not...me, is it?" he asked. It was a little hard for him to ask, because he was afraid of being wrong and feeling embarassed. He hoped he was right, but hoped he was wrong at the same time. He hoped he was right because it would relieve him a bit and save him from embarassment, but he hoped he was wrong because it might cause extreme awkwardness between them.
He shifted his eyes from her face down to the popsicle stick again, eyeing the word "WINNER!". Maybe he did win something, just nothing he ever expected to win. He tossed it and watched it as it landed winner side up next to Xion. Why, he wondered, it had to be so complicated when it came to emotions. So many thoughts that could change feelings. So complicated, it sucked.
He started to speak again, "Xion, I l... Wait, never mind. Forget I said anything." He flashed a small fake smile, hoping she wouldn't see through it. He didn't want to reveal his true feelings, at least, not yet. He had decided that he to some extent did like her, but he didn't want to say. Not yet.

She finished off her ice cream and stared at the blank stick. She’d just like it if, once, she had managed to win. She didn’t know what the prize was, or even what she was going to do with the prize once she had actually managed to win, but she wanted it. Xion, honestly, didn’t really want to think about this, but it was better than the alternative. Thinking about Roxas and the current situation he had put her through. Granted, Riku probably would have done the same if the older boy had actually caught wind of her emotions for him, not like Roxas had exactly caught on. Man, sometimes she was so glad he was kinda like Sora in this sense. So oblivious and so dense when it came to some things.
Majority of her blush had managed to fade away, but there were still some remnants on her face. She bit her lip before laughing slightly, trying to brush it off. “Oh come on, Roxie. If it was you, do you honestly think I’d admit it that easily? Haha. Very funny.” And she shoved him slightly, kidding. She hoped that he wouldn’t see through her little ruse, because, if he did, then she was doomed. She wanted to tell him, she honestly did, but she didn’t know how he would take it, and, likewise, she didn’t want to ruin her friendship with him. If she did, then she had no clue what she would do.
But she had no idea whether or not that had made it even more awkward than it was before. Because, she knew she had embarrassed him again. Just by the way he had said it. She wondered, for a brief moment, if that wasn’t just Roxas trying to admit to her that he liked her in his own little awkwardly-seriously-shy kind of way. She blushed at that own thought before jumping a little as Roxas’ popsicle stick landed next to her. Her eyes sparkled childishly as she picked it up from the sand. “Would you look at that, a WINNER. How lucky of you.” She pouted. “How come I can’t ever win?”
She instantly shut her lips when he started to speak again, her eyes still shining in his direction. Her eyebrows narrowed, however, when he stopped himself from saying whatever he was going to say. “Roxas? I know you. If you have something to say, it’s usually worth saying. So, come on! Why don’t you just tell me what it is? If it’s a girl problem, maybe I can help? After all, I am a girl.” She giggled, but, on the inside, it stung a little. If Roxas had been confused about a girl, who was she to be that lucky?
