Zack Fair
Zack watched as Noct seemed to be his own self, withdrawn, intense. He didn’t always know what to make of him sometimes, he viewed loyalty as so important, and in times of need, he was there to help, but most of the time he let no emotions run on his face. Zack found him hard to read, but all in all, he now viewed him as a good friend, and he had seen a different side to Noctis. He had seen him with his great friend Storm, at the bonfire, and he had been totally relaxed next to him. He wondered what Storm was doing today, probably practicing with his shotgun…he chuckled a little bit at the thought.
Zack watched as Hope got the cookies Tifa had made, and his eyebrow rose a bit. He kept looking at those wonderful looking cookies, and thought about sneaking one to eat. He shook Noct’s hand and smiled at him, his smile sincere. He wasn’t anything like Noctis, almost his complete opposite, but he could still appreciate Noct a lot, and was glad that they were now friends. While looking at the cookies, he glanced back at Noctis, and when he spoke, Zack laughed, “Aww Noctis, you sure know how to ruin a guys fun, now Tifa won’t ever give me those cookies!” He pretended to pout a little bit, crossing his arms and sighing. Tifa never gave him cookies. He heard her speak his name and blush, and the grin on his face rose again.
Glancing over at Noct, he couldn’t help but start laughing at what he must have looked like pouting. He wondered what they were going shopping for, and If Cloud, Noctis, Hope or he himself would be any help to Tifa, after all, they weren’t really the shoppers, and being guys, not likely to be the best at it either. He knew they would have fun though, and Tifa wouldn’t let them get crabby. Turning his attention back on Hope, he wrinkled his nose, Zack was going to have to ask him for help with getting cookies from Tifa.
He watched Hope with Tifa as he leaned up against the bar, still eying the cookies. He sent a wink Noct’s way, before reaching his hand slightly toward the cookies. He tried to keep his face expressionless, but it didn’t work all the way. Tifa would probably know right away he was going to steal one of her cookies, but it was worth a shot.
He turned his head as another person pushed the door open. Thinking hard, he remembered her name as…Lightning. Waving at her, his genuine smile reappeared, “Hey Lightning!” He watched as Tifa asked her to be her maid of honor. He smiled, wondering if she would accept. Probably, since she was a good friend of Tifa’s. He saw an odd look on Cloud’s face, and cocked his head. He was thinking about something, or feeling something that was in his heart strongly. When he walked away, Zack looked back. Tifa had to be with the guests, and she was talking to Lightning at the moment. Catching her eye, he flicked his eyes toward the stairs before nodding and walking over there. On his way he sneaked two cookies, that would make Cloud feel better! If nothing else, he would probably have a laugh that he had sneaked two of Tifa’s amazing cookies.
He followed the stairs up toward the roof, hoping he could help his best friend. He also hoped Cloud didn’t mind that it was him coming after him. He didn’t want to have Cloud be uncomfortable, but maybe that’s the reason he had come. Cloud didn’t know the others as well as he did Zack, and Tifa couldn’t exactly walk away, he hoped he could help in some way. He knew how much Cloud hated crowds, was that why he had left to go upstairs? Walking onto the roof finally, he hesitated a step before walking over to where his best friend was leaning against the railing. He set his arms down and leaned there as well, his eyes searching Midgar, not sure what the say. He wasn’t the greatest at comforting people, but he didn’t like people being upset, especially people so close to him as Cloud was. “Hey buddy!” He laid his hand on Cloud’s shoulder, and glancing up, met his eyes, searching them, telling Cloud that he was there for him. “What’s going on...are you feeling alright Cloud?”
He knew Cloud better then probably anyone else, and he could tell he was really upset about something. About what, he didn’t know, but it was something, and he was here for Cloud. He knew Cloud would tell him what it was, or at least, he was very sure of it. Just like Cloud was usually the one he told stuff he felt deep down inside, Cloud usually told him that stuff as well, although he probably told Tifa just as much. Cloud knew more about him, his true deep feelings then anyone else, Zack had confided in him a lot. He just hoped that Cloud was going to be ok, and have a good day. But all that mattered now was finding out what was wrong, and trying to fix it so that Cloud could be happy again.
